Correcting Angle's Class III Malocclusion: A Comprehensive Orthodontic Treatment Approach

#SuccessStory – Elizabeth (55 / F)

Elizabeth presented to her dentist with issues of crossbite and crowded teeth. She was facing long-term “speech discomfort and appearance concern”. She was hesitant to accept the traditional braces at this age.

Illusion Aligners PRO provided her with a discreet, removable, almost invisible, and age-appropriate treatment plan through a series of aligners that easily blended with her routine.

The results appeared gradually with maximum comfort and restored a functional and good-looking smile.

INTRODUCTION:

Orthodontic treatments, particularly using clear aligners, have evolved beyond catering exclusively to the youth, now encompassing individuals of all ages, playing a vital role in enhancing oral function and promoting optimal oral health.

ABOUT THE CASE:

A 55-year-old female patient with chief complaints of difficulty in chewing and an improper smile due to missing back teeth.

This case study describes the diagnosis, treatment planning, execution, and results achieved through a non-extraction approach with Illusion Aligners PRO.

DIAGNOSIS:

The patient was diagnosed with Angle's Class III Malocclusion with anterior crossbite and crowding in both upper and lower anterior regions.

TREATMENT PLANNING:

Objectives:

UPPER ARCH

  • Decrowding of 12 and 22
  • Correction of Anterior Crossbite by Flaring of Anteriors

LOWER ARCH

  • Minor Anterior Crowding Correction
  • Creating Positive Overjet by Lingual Tipping of Lower Anteriors

A non-extraction treatment plan was devised to address her specific orthodontic concerns using Illusion Aligners PRO. The focus included flaring of the upper anterior teeth and ensuring proper alignment and functionality.

Full mouth rehabilitation was planned to replace her missing posterior teeth and re-establish occlusion.

3 - Execution of Treatment

Material Science:

Illusion Aligners PRO is made of unilayered polyurethane material called iMOVE.

Why Illusion Aligners PRO Was Chosen?

It was selected for its ability to apply controlled labial forces while managing root torque. Guided proclination of the upper front teeth was done while maintaining lower incisor stability.

Count of Aligners for the Treatment:

  • Upper Arch: 16
  • Lower Arch: 16

4 - Refinement Phase:

The desired objectives were achieved without refinement aligners, demonstrating the precision of the treatment plan.

V – TREATMENT RESULTS:

Successful correction of crossbite, achieved overjet/overbite, improved aesthetics, and muscular harmony.
