Clear aligners have a number of advantages over traditional braces, including the fact that they straighten misaligned teeth fast and can be worn easily. Most people wont know you are wearing them because they dont appear in images. You may even forget you ever wore them a few years down the road. Except when compared to how much straighter your smile is.
Even so, for some, wearing transparent dental aligners may be a novelty. For example, individuals may be unsure about how long they should wear their aligners, how much discomfort is to be expected, or what activities they can engage in while wearing them.
You will become used to wearing them in no time, and you will be on your way to a straighter grin. Even though there will be some discomfort during the transition process, a few simple steps can help to ease the unpleasant sensation.
Here are a few recommendations to help you adapt to wearing aligners in your daily routine:
At least twenty hours a day must be spent wearing clear aligners, and they should only be removed to eat or clean your teeth. Clear aligners demand significantly more responsibility from the patient than braces because they can be removed at any time, but it is essential to not remove them just because they cause discomfort.
Consult your dentist about the types of pain relievers that are safe to take while getting used to clear aligner braces. During the adjustment period, the most common complaint is a toothache, which can be alleviated with over-the-counter pain relievers. It's critical, however, to strictly adhere to the suggested dosage and avoid taking more than is absolutely necessary.
Clear aligners don't necessitate as many dietary adjustments as braces do, but there are still some things to avoid as you get used to wearing them. Avoiding items that require a lot of chewing, such as tough meats, rough veggies, and sticky foods, is a good idea during the adjustment phase.
Throughout the course of treatment, it is critical to maintain appropriate oral hygiene. Otherwise, the aligner could become clogged with food particles and bacteria. Even though brushing and flossing with clear aligners should be done gently to avoid hurting the teeth and gums, it may be beneficial to do so more frequently in the first few weeks.
After the initial discomfort subsides, patients are able to wear their clear aligners for longer periods of time and become more comfortable. Physical activity can help distract you from any discomfort you may be feeling in the meantime. The more you focus on the discomfort, the more difficult the adjustment will be. Aligners might take up to two weeks to get acclimated to.
In the event that you forget to put your aligners on, set a timer. Eating and drinking should be done without the aligners. We recommend setting a timer to remind you when you first put them on so that you don't forget to do so. In addition, you may want to set a timer that goes off every morning and night to remind you to put them in.
Maintain the cleanliness of your aligners at all times. In order to maintain them clean and safe to use on a daily basis, aligners require some upkeep. Every time you remove your aligners for a meal, even if it's simply to wash them in cold water, we encourage you to do so. To keep them clean, you can soak them in a cup of denture cleanser for a few minutes each day.
If you want to see results, you'll need to wear your aligners every day, which means you'll need to bring them with you when you travel. Every time you leave the house, you have to bring your aligners with you. You'll have to wear your aligners no matter where you go, whether it's to work, school, or a party. Having a kit will ensure that you're prepared to wear them everywhere. In addition, remember that you can't eat while wearing the aligners, so keep a travel kit handy so that you may remove them before eating!
You'll be much better prepared for life with clear aligners if you follow these suggestions.
When you begin wearing the aligners, you will feel some discomfort because your misaligned teeth are migrating into a straighter position. When you wear aligners, your teeth, gums, tongue, and lips will have to get used to them. It's helpful to know that most people get used to wearing aligners within 7-14 days. As long as you persist with them, realize that the discomfort is a sign of favorable improvements in the future!
